Horses Helping Kids Adjust to Change
Marital break-up, moving/changing schools, peer pressure, loss, and other transitions can be tough for children and teenagers. Parents may be preoccupied with their own adjustment and uncertain of the best way to protect the children from unnecessary emotional insecurity. The Horse Power division of Country Counseling, LLC can help.
"Horses Helping Kids" is different from traditional psychotherapy. How: The “therapists” are a team of four well trained, highly compassionate horses who know how to comfort and challenge kids to move through confusion and find strength and self-confidence.
Each horse works with kids in teams of two along with a trained equine specialist and mental health professional. Overall group size is limited to eight participants. The small group size allows each child to receive personal attention and have ample time to interact with their own horse therapist. All activities are conducted on the ground so no riding experience is necessary.
